Hyderabad: BRS working president and KT Rama Rao on Friday appeared at the Jubilee Hills police station to speak with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding the alleged phone-tapping case related to the previous BRS government.
KT Rama Rao entered the police station alone, while several senior party members, including former Minister T Harish Rao, were not permitted to enter. The SIT had issued a notice to KT Rama Rao on January 22 under Section 160 of the CrPC, requesting his presence at 11 am at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Jubilee Hills.
Tensions rose earlier in the day as KTR departed from Telangana Bhavan en route to the police station. A large crowd of BRS supporters followed his vehicle, creating a chaotic scene. The police tried to disperse the crowd by forcibly shutting the gates of Telangana Bhavan, which led to a scuffle that left several party workers, including female leaders, injured.
